Outback to Reality
Craig joins ITV's celebrity jungle.
14 November, 2014
In his many years on Red Dwarf, Craig Charles has faced some pretty unedifying meals. The dog food in Marooned. The tarantula in Demons & Angels. That kebab in Entangled. But all of these (with the possible exception of the tarantula... or the same episode's Pot Noodle) may yet pale into insignificance compared to what Craig might be forced to eat during his stint on ITV's reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
Taking a temporary break from his taxi-driving duties on Coronation Street, Craig has signed up to take part in the annual festival of celebrities-having-to-do-unpleasant-things, flying out to Australia to live in a secluded jungle for several weeks. While there, Craig will compete for the votes of the viewing public in an attempt to be crowned the fourteenth "King of the Jungle" - and in the show's headline feature, may very well have to take part in "Bush Tucker Challenges", chomping down on all manner of unpleasant foodstuffs to attempt to win daily meals for the camp.
Craig is up against nine other celebrities including newsreader Michael Buerk, presenter Melanie Sykes, retired footballer Jimmy Bullard and former superbike champion Carl Fogarty. If you want to watch his arrival at camp this weekend, it all kicks off on Sunday 16th November at 9pm on ITV and will be on at the same time pretty much every night for the next few weeks. You'll be able to vote for Craig's continued participation in the show throughout - although whether you think it's more of a punishment than a reward for him to stay in for as long as possible is another question...
