Return of the Mac
Captain Hollister appearing at DJ XVIII.
7 November, 2014
If you've been around Red Dwarf fandom for long enough, you might be able to cast your mind back to the heady days of November 2000. That's the last time a certain Mac McDonald appeared at the Official Red Dwarf Fan Club convention Dimension Jump - and those who were in the audience for his opening night cabaret routine might well suggest that fifteen years is only just an adequate amount of time to recover.
Well, now that that time's passed, the Fan Club have wasted no time in getting back on the blower to Mac - with the result that the erstwhile Captain Frank Hollister is now the latest confirmed guest for Dimension Jump XVIII next May. We don't yet know if he'll be resuming cabaret stage duties, but it's a fairly safe bet that you'll see him onstage for a Q&A at some point, as well as getting the chance to meet the man himself at one of the various photograph and autograph sessions that will take place across the weekend.
If you've somehow missed all of our previous news stories on the topic, DJXVIII takes place on the weekend of 1st - 3rd May 2015 at the new venue of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham (so whatever you do, don't go accidentally booking train tickets to Birmingham out of habit. Unless you just fancy a trip to Birmingham, of course). Mac joins an ever-swelling guest list that already also includes Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules, Robert Llewellyn and Hattie Hayridge, and will no doubt expand further between now and next spring.
A pass for the weekend costs £65 for existing fan club members or £80 for non-members (of course, if you're not already a member you could always join up and then get your ticket), and can be booked from the Dimension Jump website, where you'll also find information on how to take advantage of the special convention room booking rate. As ever, though, ticket numbers are limited (and last year's event was a sellout), so if you don't want to miss out, you'll definitely need to get your skates on...

While Grant Naylor Productions fully supports the Dimension Jump convention, please note that it is not a GNP event and is organised and run by the official Fan Club.
