Dwarfers Down Under
"Return of the Smegheads" convention hits Oz
24 January, 2014
We always like it at Red Dwarf conventions when one of the guests asks which fan has come the furthest to attend the event, and an audience member invariably sticks their hand up and says they've made it all the way from Australia. It gives us a warm, fuzzy, "Dwarf has conquered the whole scale of the globe" kind of feeling.
But it's safe to say that there are more fans down under than are actually able to make it all the way over here to meet their heroes - and for that reason, we're pleased to report that yet another Red Dwarf-specific convention is taking place in Australia in 2014.
In fact, after the success of A Smegging Good Weekend last year, the twin promoters Culture Shock Events and First Contact Promotions are once again putting their heads together to bring Australian fans in no fewer than four different cities across two weekends the opportunity to meet the cast, in an event that could only be called Return of the Smegheads!
Across the four dates in February, various combinations of Craig Charles, Danny John-Jules, Hattie Hayridge and Mac McDonald will all be doing Q&A, photo and autograph sessions, while Chris Barrie will be laughing in the face of a half day's time difference to show his face via internet linkup. Here's the full details of which event is taking place where:
February 1st | Melbourne (First Contact) | Craig, Danny, Mac and Hattie (plus Chris via Skype) |
February 2nd | Sydney (Culture Shock) | Craig, Danny, Mac and Hattie (plus Chris via Skype) |
February 8th | Adelaide (First Contact) | Danny, Mac and Hattie |
February 9th | Brisbane (Culture Shock) | Danny, Mac and Hattie (plus Chris via Skype) |
You can find out more about the events - including full location details, ticket costs and any last-minute updates to the lineups - at the respective websites for First Contact and Culture Shock.

Please note that these conventions are unofficial, independent events, and are not connected to or endorsed by Grant Naylor Productions or the Official Red Dwarf Fan Club.
