January Paradise
Danny's back in the hit BBC1 drama.
29 December, 2017
The yule log is defeated. The tree is on the way down. There's only toffee pennies left in the Quality Street tin. There are all kinds of signs that Christmas is coming to an end, but another recurring one in recent years is the news that the BBC drama Death in Paradise is returning to screens in early January.
In case you didn't know, the hit crime drama features our very own Danny John-Jules in the role of island cop Dwayne Myers - in fact, Danny's one of only two cast members (the other being erstwhile Holoship guest star Don Warrington) to have been ever-present for every series so far. The revolving door of leading "fish out of water" men in the series has already been through Ben Miller and Kris Marshall, and now it's the turn of Ardal O'Hanlon to take over. Here's the synopsis for the seventh series:
Set on the idyllic tropical island of Saint Marie, the hotly anticipated seventh series sees the return of series regulars Josephine Jobert, Danny John-Jules, Tobi Bakare, Elizabeth Bourgine and Don Warrington for more baffling murder cases and warm-hearted Caribbean fun.
DI Jack Mooney is adapting to island life while also playing poker masterminds at their own game and uncovering secrets and lies within a famous reggae band, whilst DS Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert) tackles runaway suspects. Meanwhile, romance could be in the air for Officer Dwayne Myers (Danny John-Jules) but will he finally meet his match? Elsewhere a secret from Officer JP Hooper's (Tobi Bakare) past returns to haunt him.
A wide range of guest stars are set to feature, including Simon Callow, Sian Gibson, Mark Benton and, er, Levi Roots. The show returns to BBC1 at 9pm on Thursday 4th January.
