Optimus: Primed

The ever-increasing raft of sci-fi conventions taking place up and down the land means that nowadays, even if you live in a slightly further-flung part of the U.K., there's a good chance that at some point there'll be an event rolling into town that you can get along to. No longer is the chance to meet your favourite film and TV stars - by which, of course, we mean "the Red Dwarf cast" - limited to those in and around big cities like London, Birmingham and Manchester.

Such is the case with Optimus: The South West Film and TV Convention, which is taking place all the way down in Torquay (at the Riviera International Centre, to be precise) on the weekend of 1st-2nd August 2015. It's the usual sort of sci-fi convention fare, meaning you can get autographs and photographs from the assorted special guests - which, along with some Doctor Who, Ghostbusters and Game of Thrones alumni, include our very own Chris Barrie and Norman Lovett.

Tickets for the event can be pre-booked at £10 for either day, and you can also pre-book your photoshoot with either Chris or Norman (or both!) at £15 a pop. The same price will also apply to autographs, which can be bought on the day.

Unfortunately, despite being a convention on the English Riviera, as far as we can tell there aren't any Fawlty Towers cast members in attendance. Which feels like an oversight to us...
