Last Chance to See
Catch two Red Dwarf alumni on the London stage.
17 July, 2015
A couple of weeks ago we mentioned how rare it was to get a chance to see Red Dwarf cast members treading the boards in stage plays when reporting on Richard O'Callaghan's role in The Importance of Being Earnest - but spin our nipple nuts and send us to Alaska, if we hadn't overlooked another show currently running in London's West End that features not one, but two of the show's alumni!
The play in question is The Audience, the Peter Morgan-written play that imagines a series of meetings between Queen Elizabeth II (Kristin Scott Thomas) and the succession of Prime Ministers that have passed through the doors of Number 10 during her sixty-year reign. And two of those Prime Ministers happen to be played by former Red Dwarf guests.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, we have Mark Dexter (Howard Rimmer) reprising his role as David Cameron (as seen to such great effect in Coalition earlier this year) - but just in case Mark was in danger of being typecast as the current PM, he also plays former leader Tony Blair! And plugging the chronological gap between these two performances, none other than Gordon Kennedy (Hudzen) takes on the role of Gordon Brown.
The show is only running, at the time of writing, for one more week - with its final performance taking place on 25th July. It's at the Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, and tickets start at £22.50. But you'll have to get in quick!
