DJ XVIII Is Go
Official Fan Club convention this weekend!
1 May, 2015
It's a spring bank holiday weekend, it's an odd-numbered year - so it must be that time again. So it was in 2011 and 2013, as it is again in 2015: this weekend sees the biggest event in the Red Dwarf fan calendar, Dimension Jump XVIII, take place. It's all very exciting.
In fact, unless you're reading this bright and early after publication, the convention might already have started by now. It kicks (or kicked!) off at 5.30pm this evening (Friday 1st May), at the Nottingham Crowne Plaza hotel, and runs all the way through to late on Sunday afternoon. That's two pretty intense days and two equally intense nights of Red Dwarf-related enjoyment - including special guest Q&As, autograph and photo sessions, games and quizzes, disco and karaoke, a costume competition... and plenty more besides.
Guests at the event this time around include Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules, Robert Llewellyn, Gordon Kennedy, Mac McDonald and Hattie Hayridge; plus, there may even be one or two surprises that haven't been mentioned in advance, just to really blow everyone's minds...
If you haven't yet got a ticket but you're keen on going... well, first of all, where have you been? But secondly, there will still be a small number of weekend and Saturday-only passes available on the door at registration on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning - but we should stress just how limited these are, so if you're chancing a trip to Nottingham for them, make sure you're there in good time! You can get last-minute information about availability via the TORDFC Twitter account.
To join in the conversation about the weekend, the official Twitter hashtag is #DJXVIII, and if you want to keep up with what's going on, you can check out the clever search widget thingie below:
#DJXVIII TweetsBut if you've been left at home, meanwhile, you're not entirely left out of the RD-related fun, thanks to Dave: who are showing the entirety of Series I on Saturday night (2nd May), starting with The End at 11pm, and running all the way through to Me2 at 2.15am. As per usual, those eps will be repeated on Dave ja vu an hour later. And heck, if you are at the convention, then maybe going to your hotel room and watching these back to back could be just about the most hardcore Dwarf fan thing it's possible to do...
While Grant Naylor Productions fully supports the Dimension Jump convention, please note that it is not a GNP event and is organised and run by the official Fan Club.
