Rubber Mask Released
Robert's updated memoir out now!
31 May, 2013
We've followed the updating and re-release of Robert Llewellyn's behind-the-scenes memoir The Man In The Rubber Mask along various stages here on reddwarf.co.uk - but that's because we've just been so gosh-darned excited to see it go from a self-produced pet project (as Robert bashed out new chapters of the book and immediately posted audiobook readings via his own Audioboo site) to a full-on published release.
And if you weren't one of the lucky souls who managed to get along to Robert's Forbidden Planet event or the recent Dimension Jump convention to get an early signed copy, you can start rejoicing now - because the updated print edition is finally on general release. What's more, if you're the kind of forward-thinking technophile who left paper books behind a long time ago, it's also available electronically in Amazon's Kindle store, and for a whoppingly cheap £3.08!
The Man In The Rubber Mask was originally published in 1994, and earned plaudits as an enlightening and often hilarious look at the day-to-day life of a working TV actor - well, a working TV actor who just happens to spend most of his time encased in facial prosthetics in order to make a popular cult sci-fi sitcom. Originally covering Robert's work on Series III, IV and V - as well as the ill-fated US pilot - the new edition, containing "43.17% more smeg", brings ourselves and the writer up to date on every series since then, right up to and including Series X and its aftermath!
Even if you own the original book, therefore, this lovely new edition - courtesy of publishers Unbound - is a worthy addition to any self-respecting Dwarfer's shelf.
