Old And New
UPDATED: New preview date announced.
19 April, 2013 (Updated 10 May, 2013)
It's that time of year where comedians both new and experienced get their shows booked for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world's largest arts festival. Thousands upon thousands of performers and audiences descend on the picturesque Scottish city every August for a four-week bonanza of shows and entertainment, and it's a festival that's traditionally well represented by Red Dwarf alumni.
This year is no exception, and accordingly we've just been given details of Norman Lovett's brand new show, which will be taking place at the Voodoo Rooms every day (except Mondays - he's got to have some days off!) from 2nd-25th August at 8pm. Norman's show is titled Old and New, and will contain "the continuation of The Sugababes debate" from his previous shows, as well as "his iPad attached to the microphone stand from which he will depict images onto a screen to delight and astound you". In typical Norman fashion, we're also informed that "the title of the show is exactly that, a title".
If you've ever seen Norman live, you'll know exactly why he's one of the most revered stand-ups on the circuit - and if you haven't, what are you waiting for? You can book tickets at the official Edinburgh Fringe website - and while it's still a good few months away, we still recommend getting in as soon as you can before it sells out!
If Edinburgh is a bit beyond you, meanwhile, you might want to look at getting yourself to The Country Park Inn, Hessle, Hull this Sunday 21st April, where Norman has another gig booked. This won't be the same material as his Edinburgh show, but should be a pretty good warmup all the same...
Find out more about Norman's stand-up dates and videos at his official website.
UPDATE 10 May, 2013: Norman has just announced a preview of the show, to take place at The Duchess, York on Thursday 16th May. Tickets cost £8 in advance or £10 on the door, and can be bought at The Duchess website.
