Exclusive convention guest announcement!

5 April, 2013

We're just four short weeks away from arguably the biggest event in this silver anniversary Red Dwarf year: Dimension Jump XVII, the official fan club convention. Taking place, as we're sure you all already know by now, on 3rd-5th May 2013 at the Birmingham City Centre Holiday Inn, DJ will gather hundreds of fans for an epic weekend of socialising, autograph signings, merchandise trading, costume competitions, revealing and hilarious cast Q&A sessions, and a heck of a lot more besides.

Already confirmed to appear across the weekend are the full main cast of Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules and Robert Llewellyn, plus a huge number of Series X guests including Richard O'Callaghan and Rebecca Blackstone, as well as Holly-and-Toaster cabaret combination Hattie Hayridge and John Lenahan, and a convention-debut-making Tony Hawks.

We did say earlier in the year that we were hoping to make at least one more announcement, however, and reddwarf.co.uk can now exclusively reveal that series co-creator and Red Dwarf X writer-director Doug Naylor will also be in attendance. So yes, that does mean we'll have to be on our best behaviour with the boss around - although it doesn't mean you will be...

This is Doug's second DJ appearance in a row, following a quite brilliant Q&A session at the 2011 event where he just happened to off-handedly mention that Series X was officially going into production. Not that we're saying he'll definitely be arriving armed with any exclusive news this time, but whatever happens, the chance of a chat with the man behind Red Dwarf is never to be missed!

Unfortunately, the fan club have also informed us that due to unforeseen circumstances, the previously-announced Philip Labey will now not be able to attend - meaning that with Chris and Simon Treves, there will now only be two members of the Rimmer family present rather than three. But it's still a smegging fantastic lineup, and one any Dwarfer worth their salt won't want to miss out on.

If you're an Official Red Dwarf Fan Club member, you can still get a weekend pass for the event for just £65 - that rises to £80 if you're not a member. There are only a limited number of places at the event, and the number remaining is dwindling fast, so don't delay if you're interested in coming. It's also unfortunately too late to take advantage of the special convention offer at the hotel, but you may still be able to grab a reasonably-priced room if you contact them as soon as possible.

Find out more and book your place at the Fan Club website!

While Grant Naylor Productions fully supports the Dimension Jump convention, please note that it is not a GNP event and is organised and run by the official Fan Club.
