Danny's Comic Relief
DJJ in fundraising event and Pointless appearance.
22 February, 2013
Red Dwarf isn't the only venerable British comedy institution celebrating its Silver Anniversary this year - in February 1988, the very first Comic Relief Red Nose Day telethon was held. Twenty-five years later, however, the similarly-aged Dwarf continues to maintain a connection with the BBC fundraising extravaganza.
This time around - the event is held every two years - our very own Danny John-Jules will be participating in a special Comic Relief edition of the popular gameshow Celebrity Pointless. Teaming up with his Death in Paradise co-star Ben Miller, Danny will face off against three other pairs of celebs, battling it out to find the most obscure - yet correct - answers to assorted questions.
The episode will air on Saturday 2nd March - actually a couple of weeks before the main Friday night telethon itself - on BBC One (and BBC HD) at 6pm. This is actually one of two Pointless episodes that Danny has recorded of late - the other, in which he pairs with none other than Craig Charles, is set to be broadcast at a date to be confirmed in Spring.
Appearing on Pointless isn't the only contribution Danny's making to the cause, however - in addition, along with his regular Motoventures partner Steve Keys, he'll be saddling up on his trusty pink motorbike (with matching, fetching trusty pink leathers) and heading to Brands Hatch on a so-called "mad crusade". You can find out more about this venture, and sponsor Danny and Steve, at their Red Nose Day fundraising page.
The Red Nose Day telethon itself will be broadcast on BBC1 on Friday 15th March. As ever, reddwarf.co.uk encourages you to tune in, laugh along, and dig into your pockets!
