Here Come The Girls
RDX stars to make Dimension Jump debuts.
2 November, 2012
Although next May's Dimension Jump fan convention has already begun to put together a pretty stellar guest list - with confirmed appearances from Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn, Tony Hawks and Bill Pearson - it's fair to say that so far, the lineup is something of a... well, how do we put this... a sausage fest?
Yet Red Dwarf has always prided itself on having one of the more gender-balanced fanbases in cult telly - indeed, surveys frequently turn up the fact that just as many, if not more, of the show's more dedicated fans are female as male. And so we're pleased that two of the very excellent stars of Red Dwarf X have sprung forth to redress the balance, and give next year's event some much-needed female presence.
Yes, both Rebecca Blackstone - fresh from wowing audiences with her turn as fearsomely logical computer Pree in Fathers and Suns - and Entangled's Professor Edgington, Sydney Stevenson, have been confirmed by the Fan Club as booked to appear. And while they're the first of Series X's new guest actors to take up Dimension Jump spots, we can tell you right now that they won't be the last. But we'd be giving away far too many spoilers if we gave you any more names just yet.
Incidentally, those of you who wondered if an increased "female presence" at DJ might just be referring to Danny John-Jules dressing up in his Series VIII nurse costume again - well, that's not what we meant, but we will also add that Danny has also been confirmed as a guest next May. This means, incidentally, that for the third year in a row, all four of the primary cast will be appearing. Hey ho, pip and dandy!
Dimension Jump takes place on 3rd-5th May 2013 at the Birmingham City Centre Holiday Inn. Weekend passes can be booked via The Fan Club website, and cost £65 for current fan-club members, or £80 for non-members.

While Grant Naylor Productions fully supports the Dimension Jump convention, please note that it is not a GNP event, and is organised and run by the official Fan Club. Guest appearances may change subject to availability and unforeseen circumstances.
