Which fans have been selected to be locked-up together for our DVD commentaries?

The votes are in. A GNP panel have assessed all 600+ entries for our recent commentary competition and eight lucky winners have been selected. The chance to be part of a fan commentary on our forthcoming DVDs was the prize - speaking on either Back to Reality (Series V) or Gunmen of the Apocalypse (Series VI).

Heading our list were these top chaps and chapesses, ordered for which episode they'll be speaking on:

Obviously, all entries were judged entirely on their entry form. The best responses to questions that were designed to probe people's knowledge of the show, level of inventiveness and ability to tell a good joke. Which, yes, meant that anyone who completed the sentence "I want to record a Red Dwarf commentary track because..." with a three-paragraph life-story - or, for that matter, with a quick "because it would be cool to meet the cast" - found their form summarily dropped onto the reject pile.

What we have here, though, is a fascinating cross-section of Dwarf fandom. The eldest is 46, the youngest 22. One works in neuropsychology, two are teachers and one is a police officer. One of the eight doesn't own a copy of their episode (though has seen it many, many, many times), and one is flying in from Australia especially for the event.

Each winner also filled out the 'most embarrassing moment' space on the form with excellent stories. Four involved public/on-stage appearances, two involved nudity, two involved stockings and one a pair of tartan slippers. You can have hours of fun guessing the combinations...
