Running from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, the Weekend is run and organised by The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club, who have already released a preliminary schedule. With live acts, questions and answer sessions, an auction, quizzes and competitions there's plenty to keep fans busy. Saturday night may well prove to once again be the highlight with a Red Dwarf Cabaret, the legendary costume competition, and the world-famous DJ disco.

Final plans for the Weekend can only be made just before the event - with all cast members appearing subject to work commitments - but a surprise guest has already been announced. All the Fan Club website is saying is, "We've booked a very funny man, but to find out who, you'll have to come to Dimension Jump!"

The Club website - with its main section only available to members - has become a useful contact point for fans seeking the latest info on their Weekend. Recently it reported that, due to popular demand, maximum capacity has been increased in an attempt to ensure no one is disappointed.

Better yet, the one 'nightmare' of the Weekend has become a thing of the past with the launch of Virtual Queuing. Previous DJ's have seen lengthy queues of fans forming to grab a scrawl from the show's stars, but this year DJ organisers have come up with a system where no-one will have to queue for more than 30 minutes for an autograph.

"Each attendee will be issued a number, with autograph sessions taking place in blocks identified by the attendees' number. While each person gets their autographs, everyone else will have the chance to play the Red Dwarf Olympics or watch DJ:TV!" reported reddwarffanclub.com.

Finally, the Red Dwarf Olympics - the series of competitive games that proved a big success at last years' Dimension Jump - are back, bigger and better than before. "Three of the four games from last year will be making a comeback this time round," reported the website, "and we're developing ideas for some more. We basically want to double the number of games from four to eight... but we might need a little help on the creative front! Please contact us!" Club members are even now emailing brainwaves to the DJ team - no word yet on a dogfood eating competition.
