Synopsis
Kryten discovers his built-in expiry date is almost up and he has less than twenty-four hours to live. The crew are determined to give the mechanoid the best night of his life. For the first time, he experiences true pleasure and wants to delay his ascent into Silicon Heaven, the resting place for all electrical appliances. Then his replacement shows up...
Cast
Chris Barrie (Rimmer), Craig Charles (Lister), Danny John-Jules (Cat), Hattie Hayridge (Holly), Robert Llewellyn (Kryten), Julie Higginson (Girl Android), Gordon Kennedy (Hudzen)
Did You Know?
For the first - but not the last - time, Robert Llewellyn appears in Red Dwarf sans Kryten makeup, as DivaDroid executive Jim Reaper.
Just as in Series I, the last episode of Series III was a relatively late replacement for an abandoned earlier script - in this case, the intended series opener Dad. And as with Me2 and Rimmer, the later writing of The Last Day meant that Rob and Doug could work their knowledge of Kryten's character as developed by Robert Llewellyn into the series finale.
