Danny's Pointless Return
Catch up with DJJ's quiz appearance on iPlayer
20 April, 2018
Honestly, Danny John-Jules has appeared on the popular BBC1 quiz show Pointless Celebrities so often now, he should probably get a loyalty card.
In fact, over the last few years it's generally been quite a good place to spot Red Dwarf cast members - with Craig Charles and Robert Llewellyn also having made multiple appearances, and Hattie Hayridge and Norman Lovett also showing their faces.
Danny's been on the show twice previously, having won a Comedy Actors special alongside Craig in 2013 (but sadly not managing to achieve the elusive jackpot in the final round - an achievement that Robert managed in 2014). But he's back on the show for its most recent series, this time with his Death in Paradise hat on as a Drama Actor.
His partner for the quiz, in which each celebrity pair strives to find "pointless" answers to questions - that is, answers which are correct but which weren't given by a selection of 100 people polled - was fellow actor Nigel Lindsay, who has appeared in all manner of comedies and dramas down the years, but also joined Danny for a 2016 episode of Death in Paradise. Those competing against them included Trudie Goodwin, Tricia Penrose and Bill Maynard, who sadly passed away recently before broadcast of the episode.
So how did Danny - and his fetching hat - do? Could he get the all-important jackpot this time? Well, you'll just have to check out the episode, which aired last Saturday (14th April), on the iPlayer if you want to find out - it's available until mid-May. As for us, we're still waiting to see if "Red Dwarf guest stars" ever comes up as a category in the final round...
