Craig's Pointless, Danny's In Paradise
January BBC dates for two of the guys.
30 December, 2016
We find it hard to believe sometimes, too - but no, there really are other programmes on which you can see the Red Dwarf cast from time to time. And two of them are making early appearances in 2017 - so if you just can't wait for Series XII, here's how to get a fix of Craig Charles and Danny John-Jules this January.
First up, Danny is making his annual return to the sunny climes of the Caribbean, with the sixth series of the popular BBC1 crime drama Death in Paradise. In case you've missed our yearly infodumps about it, Death in Paradise sees Danny play island copper Dwayne Myers, and is a light-hearted murder mystery series that originally starred Ben Miller as a fish-out-of-water English detective, but now stars Kris Marshall as a different fish-out-of-water English detective.
Due to the changes in case that have taken place since its first series, Danny is actually the only cast member to have appeared in every single episode (a record he shares on Red Dwarf with Craig) - so we hope nothing untoward happens to his character and that can continue with this series! It starts on BBC1 at 9pm on Thursday, 5th January.
Meanwhile, Craig is making a return to the popular quiz show Pointless Celebrities - albeit this time without his previous cohort Danny in tow. This episode will be a Radio 2-themed special - something for which Craig qualifies having gained a new Saturday night slot on the channel earlier in 2016 - and sees our favourite Scouser teamed up with Vanessa Feltz.
Last time around, Craig (and Danny) made it through to the final round but couldn't quite take home the jackpot - will he go one better this time? You'll have to tune in to BBC1 at 6.10pm on Saturday, 7th January to find out...
And if you want to see the cast in their more familiar surroundings, don't forget that Red Dwarf XI is showing on Dave from 1.10pm on Monday 2nd January!
