Dwarf Down Under
Australia's Comedy Channel now showing all eight series and Back to Earth
4 November, 2011
Antipodean fans who haven't yet managed to get their hands on the remarkable Complete Collection region 4 DVD set - or indeed any of the plethora of individual series releases - can now at least get their full Red Dwarf fix courtesy of satellite and cable-based The Comedy Channel and a new link-up with BBC Worldwide.
Although The Comedy Channel already hold the rights to show Series III to VI of Red Dwarf, this deal - which also includes episodes of Alan Partridge's Mid-Morning Matters and Saxondale - sees them add Series I, II, VII and VIII, along with Back to Earth, to their broadcast roster for the first time.
"This package for The Comedy Channel is British comedy at its best," commented Irene Read of BBC Worldwide, "with Steve Coogan at the heart of it." She misspelled "Red Dwarf" as "Steve Coogan" there, but you get the idea.
The channel currently has Series III and IV in rotation, but viewers can expect to see the wider array of episodes start to air as of early next year.
