Back From The Launch
The cast were in fine form for the release of Series II on DVD...
14 February, 2003
Where were you at lunchtime on February 10th? Well, it seems that over 300 of you were at the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street meeting the stars of Red Dwarf II. We were there, too... but we left Mr Flibble at home.
Chris Barrie, Craig Charles and Danny John-Jules were all in attendance - missing only the laconic presence of the otherwise-engaged Norman Lovett and the less-laconic but equally-busy Doug Naylor. Having braved the paparazzi in backrooms before the event, the boys from the Dwarf stepped onto the stage to meet the fans.
The signing was a huge success, with the high number of attendees surprising everyone concerned... and forcing the cast to hang on just a little longer than planned to sign something for every queuing fan.
For the producers of Series I and II - Ross McGinley, Helen Norman and Associate Producer Andrew Ellard - though, it was a short-lived moment. As soon as it was all over, they sped away to a DVD meeting, making plans for Series III and IV!
Meanwhile, reviews for the second series are already flooding in. Five stars for both episodes and extras from Ultimate DVD; "outstanding comedy and outstanding extras" quoth Dreamwatch magazine; and "another smegging good DVD" said DVD Review.
