Cover Mounting
DVD Review magazine offers a Red Dwarf taster to its readers.
15 November, 2002
Issue 45 of DVD Review goes on sale from the 14th of November, complete with a mounted cover disc offering a hint of what's available on the full Series I DVD. Not sure if the DVD is for you? Well, what the smeg are you doing here?!
The disc includes the deleted funeral scene, a scene from the Japanese episode, as well as a teaser section of the Launching Red Dwarf documentary. Expect copies to be snapped up by ardent fans who already own the DVD, but just can't bear to miss out on a single piece of Red Dwarf memorabilia.
Reviews for the DVDs have been coming in thick and fast, all overwhelmingly positive. DVD Review itself describes it as a "great opening season with memorable special features", but they're far from being alone. DVDanswers.com - who also carried interviews with top dog Doug Naylor and Associate Producer Andrew Ellard - call it "an excellently presented series with decent packaging and wonderful extras."
"The commentaries alone make it a worthwhile set," quoth r2-DVD.org. "A well-rounded, mouthwatering package... Series I is essential," said DVD Monthly. "The BBC has really gone to town on this set," we got from Ultimate DVD. From the genre magazines, we nabbed four stars from SFX for both show and extras, but Starburst gave a full five stars for the extras, one more than the show itself! "The extras are smegging brilliant!" they said. Well, we won't disagree.
You can pick up Red Dwarf Series I online from the Red Dwarf Shop.
