Cast Go Live

A round-up of some of the recent appearances of Red Dwarf's stars.

3 August, 2001

The Red Dwarf cast are a talented bunch. Not content with starring in a hit comedy/SF series, they supplement their meagre incomes with a few alternate careers. Robert Llewellyn is currently finishing his latest novel, Brother Nature - and with a string of bestsellers behind him, success is assured.

Hattie Hayridge has been glimpsed around the country making people laugh. Most recently you might have seen her in Birmingham putting her laconic style to good use in the sweltering heat. As you might expect, a great many Red Dwarf fans were also in attendance. Norman Lovett, too, is currently doing his comedy thang in Cambridge alongside, amongst others, The Fast Show's Simon Day.

The eagle-eyed will have spotted the ever-funky Danny John-Jules being repeated in top kids' show, Maid Marian and her Merry Men. The show was a smash hit when it first came out - mostly because some jokes worked even better on the adult viewers than the kids! - so if you missed out the first time, check out BBC1 on Fridays at 5pm.

Finally, if you're in the mood for some mechanical mayhem, there are still some chances to catch Craig Charles on the Robot Wars live tour. While early publicity didn't indicate the Scouser's energetic presence, it seems that Craig has been wowing the crowds as machine battles machine in the automated gladiatorial battle.

The tour is still moving around the UK, and you can check out the Robot Wars website for details from our Links section. Craig is also getting his oilcan ready for the next BBC2 series of Robot Wars.
