Gigging with Craig, up to and including Christmas!
20 September, 2019
We always like to make sure you're kept up to date with the whereabouts of Craig Charles - possibly the busiest man in British showbiz, given his weekly commitments not only to radio, but also to funk and soul gigs up and down the country, with the occasional TV hosting stint or series of Red Dwarf thrown in - and given that the last set of listings we gave you took us up to the end of September, it's about time we filled you in on where he's at between now and the end of 2019.
First and foremost, if you're in Manchester, you've got the best chance of seeing a show - as per usual, alternate Saturdays will almost always see Craig at his spiritual home of Band on the Wall. September 28th, October 12th and 26th, and November 16th, 23rd and 30th are the relevant dates - but there are no Manchester gigs slated for December at the moment, with lots of business elsewhere instead.
Aside from those Manchester staples, October sees shows in Derby (Friday 4th), Salisbury (Friday 11th), Tenby (Friday 18th) and Weymouth (Friday 25th). It's a similarly diverse month in November, with Swansea (Friday 1st), Walthamstow (Saturday 2nd), Oxford (Friday 22nd), Brighton (Saturday 23rd), and Newcastle (Friday 29th).
And things don't let up in December either, with the last month of the year taking in Buckley (Friday 6th), Leeds (Saturday 14th), Cambridge (Friday 20th), Bristol (Saturday 21st) and Birmingham (Sunday 22nd). There's then a (well-earned!) couple of days' Christmas break before Craig picks up the festivities with a "Funky Boxing Day Special" in Liverpool (26th), a trip to Scarborough on Saturday 28th, and finally seeing in New Year's Eve at the O2 Academy in Sheffield. Blimey.
If any of those events take your fancy, you can find out more information and get tickets via the listings on Ents24. And don't forget your weekly double dose on the radio either: each Saturday you can hear the Funk and Soul Show on BBC 6Music at 6pm before the House Party at 10pm. You can also hear a special Trojan Trunk of Funk celebrating 50 years of the legendary label on BBC Sounds.
Phew. With all of this, it's a wonder he ever finds the time for anything else...
Keep up with Craig's many and varied movements on Twitter!
