Old Bloke, New Book
Robert's new sort-of memoir is out now!
9 November, 2018
As the nights draw in and Christmas gets closer, you're no doubt looking for some fresh things to stuff your wishlists with - and fortunately, Robert Llewellyn has just the thing for any self-respecting Dwarf fan who enjoys reading things.
Robert's new book, Some Old Bloke, is out now from Unbound publishing - and while it's not a memoir specifically about his time on Red Dwarf (we've already got The Man In The Rubber Mask for that) it's nevertheless an enjoyable and compelling hop around various aspects of his life and career as he muses on the place of the "bloke" in society.
The book has taken a somewhat circuitous route to get here: Robert's next project was originally announced in 2016 as Josh Joshi and the Great Divide, a satirical novel about politics and celebrity. But when real world events overtook the writer's intentions, he decided to refocus and begin work on this memoir instead - titling it after the caption his son gave an unflattering drawing of him one Christmas.
The change in subject matter couldn't halt the book's drive for pledges on crowdfunding publishing platform Unbound, however, and the book quickly hit its target ready for publication this year. And what's more, those who were still looking forward to Josh Joshi don't have to miss out entirely - as the chapters that had been written before the novel was abandoned have been included in this book, too.
Some Old Bloke is available both in hardback and as an eBook. It's in turns funny, warm and moving - and we heartily recommend it!
