Can you come up with a new logo for the fan club convention?
5 February, 2016
Although we're only in the early weeks of 2016, The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club are already looking forward to 2017, when they'll be holding the nineteenth Dimension Jump convention - hopefully slotted neatly in the gap between broadcast of Red Dwarf XI and Red Dwarf XII. And while it's too early to give you any details on exactly where and when the event will be taking place, what we can do is bring you news of the now-customary competition for one lucky fan to bag a free ticket to the con - by designing its logo!
For the last two events, this competition has been won by talented goit Christopher Williams - so no pressure or anything, but if you want to stop him getting the hat-trick, you'll have to be good. All you have to do is come up with a design that clearly gets across the name of the event - that is, Dimension Jump XIX - and which is suitable to be reproduced across posters, merchandise and other paraphernalia. You can make use of Red Dwarf-related imagery, characters or concepts - but of course, your design must not include any infringement of other copyrights or trademarks.
You can submit your design over at the TORDFC website, but before you do, cast your eye over the following set of directives to make sure you're working along the right lines:
- The logo must include a clear and striking emblem suitable for merchandise use. DJXV's Earth design, DJXVI's Strawberry and DJXVIII's Mugs Murphy designs are perfect examples of this.
- It must also include the words "Dimension Jump XIX" in a clear, stylish font. For bonus points the design could also support the removal of "XIX" to give the design more uses in the years ahead.
- Please submit your entry in jpg, gif, png or similar formats and ensure it is a manageable size. Should you win you will need to be able to provide the (large as possible) original in PSD or similar format.
- Hand drawn entries are welcome, but bear in mind that we need something that can be converted into a high quality image.
- By entering you are agreeing that the Fan Club can use your logo, free of charge, for any purpose it needs; for example, merchandise and marketing.
- The winner will be selected purely on the merit of the design by a panel including Fan Club team members who will have no knowledge of the identity of the entrant. Their decision will be final.
- Finally, the closing date for the competition will be 23:59 on Friday March 4th 2016.
So that's a month you've got, basically. And no, before you ask, taking last year's design and changing the "XVIII" to "XIX" probably won't get you the win. Just a hunch...

While Grant Naylor Productions fully supports the Dimension Jump convention, please note that it is not a GNP event, and both the convention and this competition are organised and run by the official Fan Club.
