Funky Winter
Craig's Funk and Soul Club out on tour.
17 October, 2014
As we're sure you're well aware by now, one of the longest-running day (well, day and night!) jobs held by a member of the Red Dwarf cast has been the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club. Craig's been hosting his radio show since 2002 (it's BBC 6Music's longest-serving show, don't you know) but over the last couple of years has been steadily increasing his presence at live venues up and down the country. And if you've never had the opportunity to catch one of these nights - or if you have, but just fancy doing so again - then the next couple of months offer a particularly good opportunity, with several top-notch dates lined up.
Starting this very weekend (17th/18th October), Craig can be found in Leicester and Preston, before moving on to his regular haunts of London and Manchester the following week. The month is then rounded off by a Halloween night in Barnstaple, and the following night in Brighton. And that's just the next three weeks!
Looking further ahead, there are a couple of bigger-than-usual events taking place in December, with live bands performing in addition to Craig's usual DJ set. The Funky Eclectic Christmas Party in Bristol on 12th December features the legendary Alabama 3 (who you might recognise from the theme tune to The Sopranos), while the following night there's the Funk & Soul Blackpool Christmas Ball with the possibly-even-more-legendary Soul II Soul.
If you're keen on following Craig around the country - or if you just want to see if he's nearby any time soon - here's an at-a-glance guide to all the dates we know of at the time of writing:

Friday 17th October | Leicester (Streetlife) |
Saturday 18th October | Preston (53 Degrees at UCLAN) |
Friday 24th October | London (The Jazz Caf) |
Saturday 25th October | Manchester (Band on the Wall) |
Friday 31st October | Barnstaple (The Factory Petroc) |

You might also recall a November date in Reading that we mentioned in a previous article - that night has been rescheduled, and will instead take place next March. For the latest news on Craig's whereabouts, you can check Ents24, which also features links to buy tickets to all the above events. Dancing shoes, however, are sold separately.
