Going Live

Given the number of stand-up comedians who have made up the cast of Red Dwarf over the years, it's perhaps not surprising that at any given time you can usually find at least one of them performing live somewhere. September 2014, however, is particularly notable, as you can go and see two of them.

First up, there's the very limited opportunity to see John Lenahan - former Talkie Toaster voice and hugely entertaining Bodysnatcher Collection interviewee - performing his unique brand of magic and comedy in a small and intimate setting. Up Close takes place at the Etcetera Theatre in Camden, north London, from September 9th to the 14th only - and because of the deliberately close nature of the performance, implied by the title, seating for the show is extremely limited, so it's recommended you book as soon as you can.

As anyone who's ever seen John bringing the house down at the Dimension Jump conventions can attest, his shows will leave you alternately scratching your head with wonder and rolling in the aisles with laughter. If you want to book tickets, head on over to John's website for more information.

For a more conventional - although actually, still not all that conventional - comedy experience, meanwhile, readers in or near to any of Caerphilly, Nottingham, Newcastle, Glasgow and Berwick-Upon-Tweet might want to think about going to see Norman Lovett performing his much-heralded Old and New show. The busy week of dates takes place between 19th and 26th September, and you can find a full schedule and links to buy tickets at Norman's website.

And finally, although moving away from comedy, another Dwarfer out on the touring circuit at the moment is of course Craig Charles, who can be found performing his Funk and Soul Club DJ show almost anywhere you care to look. Here's a list of dates and places between now and early November:
