Formula Bobb-E
Robert hosting segments for the new racing championship.
29 August, 2014
Where there's an electric car, these days, it seems you'll find Robert Llewellyn not far away (or, more likely, sitting behind the wheel). And that's certainly the case for the new FIA Formula E Championship, which has signed Bobby up to work on its coverage throughout the season.
If you've never heard of Formula E, it's a new open-wheeled racing championship, similar in style to Formula 1, but with entirely electric, battery powered cars. There are several former F1 drivers racing in the first season, which will take in ten races between September 2014 and June 2015, with the last round being on a dramatic new street circuit around London's Battersea Park.
As part of the official Formula E presentation team, Robert will be taking part in videos that look behind the scenes at the technology involved in the sport, which will be published on YouTube. Here's one of his first videos, from the pre-season buildup, in which he explains the basics of the cars' background and development:
The season kicks off in just over a fortnight, with the first race taking place in Beijing on Saturday 13th September. Viewers in the UK can see the races on ITV4, although there's no word yet on whether Robert's part of the coverage will make it to broadcast over here - but we'll keep our eyes peeled!
