Dwarf in the USA
More PBS showings on the way.
15 August, 2014
It's taken a little while to really get going, but Red Dwarf fans in the United States are finally getting to see the benefits of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) picking up Red Dwarf X for broadcast, as more and more affiliate stations across the nation are getting in on the act.
KERA in Dallas, TX and KCTS in Seattle, WA were the first stations to hop on the Series X train, but coming up this month a further two networks will be showing the series. First up, this coming weekend (16th August), WVPB affiliates in West Virginia are starting a run of Saturday night double-bills. Kicking off with Trojan at the slightly odd scheduled time of 10.58pm (EDT) - seriously, that's what it says in their listings! - they'll be showing Fathers and Suns the same night, before moving on to episodes three and four the following week. The episodes will run on all three WVPB stations - that's WPBY in Charleston and Huntington, WNPB in Morgantown, and WSWP in Grandview.
Moving significantly further west, meanwhile, the Utah-based broadcaster KUED will start showing Trojan to viewers in Salt Lake City at 10.30pm (MDT) on Saturday 23rd August. Their broadcasts are also available to viewers of KUES (Richfield) and KUEW (St. George), and they'll be showing one episode a week.
Those are all the showings we've heard about for the moment, but we're sure we'll have a chance to update our "Red Dwarf conquering America" pinboard map further before too long. We'll keep you posted when we do, as well.
