Go Ahead, Jump
Fan Club convention XVIII is go!
14 March, 2014
Hot off the Fan Club wires, we're delighted to bring you the news that the dates have been set for the next Official Red Dwarf Fan Club convention, Dimension Jump XVIII. So get your diaries out, and mark the weekend of 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May 2015 in big thick ink right now. And yes, that is the bank holiday weekend, so some of you will have the extra Monday off work to recover and everything!
After several successful years in Birmingham, the convention has a new home for 2015, and will be taking place at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham. This hotel is a five minute or so walk away from the city's well-connected train station, and is also close to Nottingham castle, the one-time home of the Sheriff of Nottingham - which might interest the Maid Marian fans among you.
The fan club are still working on the guest list for 2015, and hope to have some names to announce in the next few months. Guests at the last few events have included Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn, Danny John-Jules, Doug Naylor, Tony Hawks, Chloë Annett, Hattie Hayridge, John Lenahan, Richard O'Callaghan and numerous other members of the Red Dwarf X guest cast. The event also plays host to quizzes, video screenings, a costume competition, a Saturday night disco, and all manner of other fantastic events. Attending guests take part in Q&A sessions as well as autograph sessions that come at no additional charge to attendees!
Advance registration is open now, and the price depends on how early you book and whether you're an existing member of the fan club. The current cost is £55 for members and £65 for non-members, but these rates only apply if you book before Monday 22nd September. From then on, the price will go up to £65 for members, and £80 for non-members. So it pays to get in early! You can find out more information about the convention - and the special room booking rate for attendees - as well as booking your ticket, at the dedicated Dimension Jump site.
What's more, the fan club are also pleased to announce the winner of the competition to design the convention logo. Out of more than fifty entries, the team undertook a blind vote that ultimately saw Chris Williams come out on top for the second convention in succession, following up DJXVII's "Mugs Murphy" design with this fantastic piece of art that cleverly recognises that there are the same number of crew members on Red Dwarf as there are letters in the word "JUMP":

Stylish and distinctive, it links the convention to the show perfectly - and it's going to look great on a t-shirt. If you entered the competition, or just want to see some more great designs, you'll be able to see a selection of runners up on the TORDFC website shortly. Well done to everyone who entered!

While Grant Naylor Productions fully supports the Dimension Jump convention, please note that it is not a GNP event and is organised and run by the official Fan Club.
