Silver DJ
2013 fan convention on the way.
18 January, 2013
As we hurtle into Red Dwarf's Silver Anniversary year, we thought it was about time to remind you of what will surely be one of the biggest celebratory events of a monumental 2013: that is, the Official Red Dwarf Fan Club's upcoming convention, Dimension Jump XVII!
Dimension Jump is the one and only officially-sanctioned Red Dwarf convention, and sees the fan club and hundreds of fans descend on a chosen hotel for a weekend of fun, games, Q&As, costume competitions, auctions, and - for the so inclined - all manner of evening carousal.
And, naturally, there are plenty of Red Dwarf-related guests on hand over the weekend. This time out, as the first convention following Series X, there are all manner of exciting new faces joining the regular gang. So far, the guest list includes:
- The full main cast of Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn and Danny John-Jules.
- Series X guest stars Richard O'Callaghan (Hogey the Roguey), Rebecca Blackstone (Pree), Alex Hardy (Chancellor Wednesday), Simon Treves (Lecturer Rimmer), Philip Labey (Young Rimmer), Sydney Stevenson (Professor Edgington) and Isla Ure (Dispensers 23 & 34).
- Model maker extraordinaire Bill Pearson.
- Cabaret duo Hattie Hayridge (Holly) and John Lenahan (Talkie Toaster)
- Early series "Fifth Dwarfer", warm-up guy and man of a thousand (well, four) different guest roles, Tony Hawks - making his long-awaited convention debut!
We wouldn't rule out further names being added to the list before too long, either. Can you afford to miss this fantastically huge gang of Dwarfers?
The event will be held over the weekend of the 3rd, 4th and 5th of May 2013 - proceedings usually kick off early on the Friday evening and wind down late Sunday afternoon - and will once again be hosted by the Birmingham City Centre Holiday Inn. Registration costs £65 for current members of the fan club, or £80 for non-members. If you need a room at the hotel, there's also a special rate agreed for convention-goers - find out more at the DJ website, but move quickly as numbers are limited, and already dwindling fast!
A convention pass allows you entry to all Q&A and autograph sessions - and unlike other conventions, Dimension Jump does not charge separately for autographs and personal photographs! - as well as the Friday and Saturday night and Sunday afternoon entertainments, merchandise room and auctions (featuring rare and exclusive props and merch!), and all games and competitions. There are also optional professional photograph sessions, and the popular informal "coffee lounge" guest gatherings, available at additional cost.
All the necessary booking info - as well as further upcoming guest and event announcements - can be found on the official fan club website. We'll be there (come and find us and say hello!) - will you?

While Grant Naylor Productions fully supports the Dimension Jump convention, please note that it is not a GNP event and is organised and run by the official Fan Club.
