One Weekend, Two Hollys and a Lister

When sci-fi conventions invite actors from most popular TV series, they'll expect to get the usual mixture of autograph sessions, Q&A panels and photo opportunities. But when they get someone from Red Dwarf, they usually get a lot more into the bargain.

Having a Holly appear, for example, means you're also getting one of the best standup comedians in the country. Which is exactly what the third annual SFX Weekender, held by bestselling Back to Earth prop SFX Magazine, has done. What's more, they haven't just settled for one - as, aside from making the customary appearances in the signing arena, Hattie Hayridge and Norman Lovett will each be performing a set of their brilliant standup.

What's more, if your weekend of sci-fi geekery isn't sufficiently topped off by the pair's comedy stylings, you might also be interested to know that SFX have hired a DJ by the name of Craig Charles to spin some records at their famous Maskerade Ball.

The convention takes place at Prestatyn holiday camp in North Wales on Friday 3 February and Saturday 4 February 2012. Tickets start at £189 per person - including the cost of a chalet room at the holiday camp - and while the sought-after VIP passes have now sold out, passes at the "Silver", "Gold" and "Gold Plus" level are still available.
