Props Due
Three more extraordinary finds pop up for sale from the Prop Store.
8 April, 2011
In recent weeks The Prop Store of London have uncovered a series of interesting items from their Red Dwarf archives. Super-rare, as-seen-in-the-show props that would reveal the fingerprints of cast and crew if they were dusted with that stuff they use in CSI.
And now three new show-used items have popped-up for sale - the kind of things that make us wish a lottery win was in our immediate future.
Kryten's Escort Boots
Series IV, Justice.
Made from a combination of wood, plastic and rubber, around the edge are flashing red LEDs powered by a 9V battery. The boots have a hinged middle and front which originally opened via a simple contraption whereby a crew member pulled on a steel cable attached to the top section, folding it out in a mechanical motion. The entire surface is sprayed black and metallic grey then intentionally distressed with some of the paint flaking from the foam edging, creating a futuristic look to the boots. Sadly the opening mechanism cables have been all but removed, but are a great and memorable pair from the episode.

Curry Monster Head
Series IV, DNA.
Made from foam latex, the piece was originally painted a variety of colours to create the mutated look the team were after, and has some vaguely recognisable human features such as teeth and exposed sections of brain and a long, wide gaping mouth the wearer used to see out of. This unfortunate creature was not designed to last longer than was required to film the episode, and even though it is still fairly supple and has been kept on the original plaster bust, there are splits across the back as well as surface cracks.

Post Pod
Series II, Better Than Life. (Also Series III, The Last Day.)
Made from resin shaped like a classic Royal Mail red post box and still has the fixing point for the pyrotechnic that was on the back and seen blasting off towards the ship. It comes presented on a custom built stand to make it look as though it is still drifting on through space, and is in good condition with production distressing to make it look like it's been trailing behind the ship for a colossal amount of years!

The Post Pod comes mounted as a special Red Dwarf display.
