Arnold Rimmer BSc SSc DTech
Chris Barrie awarded honorary qualification.

Well, it sure beats a bronze swimming certificate. Rimmer actor Chris Barrie has been awarded an honorary degree by Loughborough University.
The Doctor of Technology award comes in recognition of his work of engineering, most notably in the Massive Engines/Machines/Speed and Greatest Machines series. (The second series of the latter was recently released on DVD.) Chris - a car collector as well as presenter of great big facts - blatantly knows his stuff, and it's easy to imagine that, handed an engineering exam paper, he'd probably ace it.
Discussing the honour on his website, Chris said: Essentially this is recognition for bringing the world of engineering to the public - mainly through programmes like Massive Engines and Britain's Greatest Machines and I have to say, such recognition gives me a strong sense of pride!
To see Chris's acceptance speech - as well as an introduction which offers some Red Dwarf gags, definitively proving that it really is all in the delivery - you can watch the video at the Loughborough University website and skip to around the 32 minute mark.
All the latest Chris Barrie news - including pretty much everything we've said here, but also a lot of exclusive content - is available from the Chris Barrie Fan Club. It's officially endorsed by the man himself. And, y'know, he's pretty qualified - you should listen to him.
