Llewellyn's Latest Online Venture
Robert joins internet comedy show.
4 June, 2010
Robert Llewellyn - forever beloved as rubber-headed Red Dwarf icon Kryten - has joined a new fantasy/horror series for the BBC. But since it's going up as part of the Beeb's comedy mini-site, and co-stars James Corden, we're thinking the 'fantasy/horror' aspect might be tempered with a lot of laughs...
It's called Beast Hunters. Written by Justin Gayner, Jamie Lennox and Louis Waymouth it's about... well, the obvious, really. But let's let the opening narration do the explaining:
In 1999 two private investigators invoked an ancient curse, releasing an army of mythical creatures into our world. Today, their children must hunt and kill the beasts and free their fathers from the enchanted pages. If you've got a beast, if no-one else can help, and if you can find them, and if they can be bothered, maybe you can call The Beast Hunters. (Or just text.)
Yes, that would be The A-Team opening being spoofed just there. You'll also clock a Ghostbusters riff almost immediately, as well as a nod to Joss Whedon's beloved 'phlebotinum'. Mostly, though, you'll notice Bobby in silly headgear. Which is exactly as it should be.
Two episodes of Beast Hunters are already up on the BBC Comedy site.
