Cruel Aliens Still Cruel

Rob Grant's animated project still gestating.

You've likely heard occasional mention of Cruel Aliens, the animated project created by Red Dwarf co-creator Rob Grant. You also, quite certainly, have never seen the show, what with not having been made yet.

Well, it seems that the show, previously placed with Aardman, is now in development with Calon TV, the Cardiff-based company whose website is reporting Cruel Aliens as one of several projects taken to MIPTV - the Cannes-based media sales event - this year.

Described as The Jetsons with ASBOs Cruel Aliens is a 30-minute long 2D animated comedy for grown-ups following the lives of a dysfunctional family from outer space.

For its what-it-says-on-the-tin title, plus Rob's remarkable imagination, we hope this is the start of something cruel...
