Viva Red Dwarf

Spanish release for Series I.

14 March, 2008

We usually resort to offensive cultural stereotypes during these international DVD stories, but today we're going to be especially retrained. We'll leave the Spanish donkeys to BBC sitcom specials.

Castilian Sleeve

So - March 18th sees the release of Red Dwarf Series I in Spain. The release, which actually comes in dual languages - Castilian (normal Spanish) and Catalan (essentially the language of Barcelona) - including two versions of the cover art, also packs in the best of the UK DVD extras:

Catalan Menu
Launching Red Dwarf documentary
Deleted Scenes
Smeg Ups
Trailer
Future Echoes Animated Easter Egg

...though, like many European releases, they're not actually hiding the egg!

Interestingly, the release features the UK DVD menu design, but the main 'Drive Room' setting has been augmented with some extra details on the console. Surely a reason for completists to pick up a copy then set up a website describing the differences in detail!
