Chris's Massive
Mister Barrie once again shows us his chassis.
24 November, 2006
After the success of Massive Engines and Massive Machines, it will come as no surprise that Discovery have reunited with self-confessed petrolhead Chris Barrie for their new series, Massive Speed.
Once again, reddwarf.co.uk has a treat for the girls (and, no doubt, some boys) in the form of a new photo gallery, with Chris showing off some enormous horsepower. (These innuendoes really do just write themselves.) The click-to-enlarge images are scattered across this page.
The nine-part series kicks off on Monday, December 4th at 8.30pm and continues every weeknight thereafter. The episodes, along with the channels' descriptions, are:
FIGHTER AIRCRAFT
Chris Barrie takes us on a whirlwind tour of the history of dog-fighting, taking a ride
in a Spitfire and meeting crack Dutch F16 pilots along the way.
HOT RODS
Chris Barrie takes a breathtaking ride through the history of hot rods, beginning with 1940s
Californian street cars and climaxing with a terrifying ride in a modern dragster.
RECORD BREAKING TRAINS
Chris Barrie takes us on a fascinating tour on some of his favourite fast trains, starting with
the elegant steam-engine City of Truro and finishing with a breathtaking ride on a Maglev test train
in Germany.
4X4
Chris Barrie's hands-on slant on some of the fastest (and muddiest) 4x4 machines around.
ATTACK HELICOPTERS
A fascinating journey through the evolution of the modern attack helicopter, from the first
insect-like lightweight autogiros to the deadly Apache AH-64, the ultimate high speed war machine.
ARMOURED SPEED
Great fun, as Chris drives a priceless armoured Rolls Royce, a rare German halftrack, and
ends up burning rubber in a £200k armoured limo - all in the name of speed!
POWERBOATS
Fascinating hands-on look at the history of powerboats ending up with a terrified Chris Barrie
driving at 100mph offshore - well worth a watch!
TWO WHEELS BETTER
Chris Barrie tells the fascinating stories of the great motorbikes that re-wrote the rule books
on speed, from the first engine powered push bikes to today's 186mph speed machines.
SPORTS CARS
Chris Barrie takes a closer look at one of his great passions, Sports Cars, including a twisting
hill climb in a vintage racer and a white knuckle ride in the world's fastest road car.
