Eureka Carry On
With what they're doooo-ing. Because there's al-ways trouble brew-ew-ing...

That theme tune. Irresistible. Maid Marian and Her Merry Men is coming to DVD on March 20th, 2006 courtesy of Eureka Video, who previously brought you all seven series of The Brittas Empire.
Why is this fantastic news? Hard to say, really. Explaining the appeal of a 'children's' show created by Tony Robinson, who brings some of the sensibilities of Blackadder to another historical period, only without the cynicism, isn't easy. The simple wit of the show is one thing. The high-concept is another - what if Robin Hood were a great wet sop and Marian actually both the brains and the muscle?
Then there's the delightful cast - which brings us to Danny John-Jules' role as Barrington. Fans on Dan's musical abilities will have much to enjoy - yes, he does sing in the show. A lot.
Which brings us to the DVD. Yes, there's an episode one audio commentary by Robinson. Sure, he's also penned a quiz and an exclusive comic booklet showing what's become of the gang since the show ended. Okay, so they've also whacked on dubbed examples of the show and a trailer. What really matters is this: Maid Marian Karaoke.
Oh, you laugh now, but believe us when we say that this may be the highlight of your year. These are terrific comedy songs, and you will relish this opportunity. And there's more to come - the second series is already being earmarked for a July 2006 release.
Series one is out a week before Red Dwarf VIII, which should make the wait a little easier to bear. In the meantime, enjoy the reddwarf.co.uk exclusive on full cover art and an extract from the booklet with illustrations by series artist Paul Cemmick.
