Craig's Game
Our Craig takes on Channel 4's challenges - Live!
18 March, 2005
What doesn't kill you can only make you stronger, apparently. Well, Craig Charles is about to find out as he suffers the tortures of Channel 4's The Games. In this, the third series of the show, Craig will be competing alongside nine other celebrities, over a total of eighteen events, for a gold medal and the chance to win plenty of moolah for their chosen charity.
On the starting line are Kirsty Gallacher, Mel Giedroyc, Chesney Hawkes, Lisa Maffia, Jonathon Morris, Philip Olivier, Kevin Simm, Anna Walker and Princess Tamara Czartoryski-Borbon, all of whom have been going through three months of training (though Craig did skip out at one point to buy a boat). Their various exploits have been shown on digital/satellite channel E4.
Now, though, the live coverage is moving to terrestrial Channel 4 as the four-part documentary Athletes in Training begins on Monday, March 21st at 11.05pm and continues at the same time for the next three nights.
After that - with additional coverage on E4, as well as online, which you can check out via Links - Saturday, March 26th kicks off the Live competition at 9.10pm. Hosted by Jamie Theakston and Jayne Middlemiss, coverage continues every day for a week, taking in events including the high dive, speed-skating, curling, cycling, hurdles, vault, gymnastics, sumo-wrestling, weight-lifting, rowing, water-ski jump and trampolining.
Phew! Makes us tired just thinking about it. We'll be watching from the safety of the sofa, eating cake.
