Christies Auction
Red Dwarf costumes go under the hammer.
5 December, 2003
Christie's auction house. A company dating back to James Christie's first sale in 1766, with significant historical sales including magnificent antiques, fabulous jewellery, Van Goghs, Rembrandts. In short, it's a classy establishment.
So what brings the boys from the Dwarf through their (probably solid oak) doors? Is Lister after the Marilyn Monroe print from the Playboy auction? Could Rimmer be interested in their 1900 sale of items belonging to Napoleon?
Well, obviously not. On December 16th Christie's will be holding its Film & Entertainment auction, and four very special Red Dwarf items have been listed. As pictured, we have Kochanski's Series VII PVC costume, a Red Dwarf crew uniform from Series VIII, Cat's incredible yellow outfit from Terrorform and a genuine Mark II Bazookoid.
Viewings are being held on December 14th, 15th and 16th for the sale, which also includes Christopher Reeve's Superman costume and a stormtrooper helmet and blaster from Star Wars, as well as two fascinating collections. Costume designer John Mollo's original designs for Alien and Star Wars are under the hammer, as well as items from the late James Bond director Peter Hunt's collection.
