Brittas - The Revenge
Series two of Chris Barrie's irrepressible leader of men arrives on DVD.

It's time to wheel out those diabolical impressions again - Gordon Brittas is back. Yes, The Brittas Empire - Series 2 is out on October 20th, and there's no way you can escape it.
The full seven episodes included are Back From the Dead, Temple of the Body, An Inspector Calls, Set In Concrete, Mums and Dads, Safety First and New Generation. Extras on the disc - apart from some funky 3D animated menus - include a quiz, profiles and a gallery. Best of all though is some behind-the-scenes footage borrowed from TV show This Morning. Described only as an 'interview' on the packaging, this is actually a rare glimpse of the show in production, coupled with brief chats with the cast. Well worth a look.
Series 2 of Brittas, much like Red Dwarf, is the one where the farcical journey of a leisure centre manager really found its feet. Oh, and indirectly Brittas is also the reason for Ace Rimmer's birth - poor Chris Barrie had, by 1991, had what Doug Naylor describes (in, oh yes, the new Series IV DVD documentary) as "git overload". Sick of playing losers, he wanted a crack at something heroic - and boy did he get his chance!
Good news, though, for fans of Chris in git mode - Eureka Video have confirmed that Brittas Series 3 (stills pictured) will be available as a late Christmas present from December 26th. Plans for further releases are still to be confirmed, but we have been told that "Eureka is en-route to achieving its forecast of 20,000 units by Christmas" - so previous sales might hopefully inspire the company to continue.
