Doug Debates
The Red Dwarf writer/creator at the Sci-Fi London film festival.
8 February, 2002
It was the UK's first film festival to focus on the SF genre. For the first three days of February, Sci-Fi London 2002 celebrated what's new, old and just plain interesting in the world of science fiction.
Predating the event itself - which included screenings of the Alien saga, THX 1138 and 12 Monkeys, as well as a stack of new movies - was the Douglas Adams Memorial Debate on January 30th. The subject? The relationship between SF novels and films - do the great books make terrible films?
Among the guest speakers were well-known author and critic Kim Newman, special effects guru Brian Johnson, author Anne Gay... and Red Dwarf writer (for TV, film and novels!), Doug Naylor.
