Penguin P-P-P-Pick-Ups Mr Flibble doesn't restrict himself to one-on-one interviews, oh no. At an international celebrity gathering, the Flibster grabbed as many passing names as he could lay his flippers on for a quick chat... |

Mr Flibble eavesdrops as the late great Batman creator is introduced to the director of The Godfather, Bram Stoker's Dracula and Apocalypse Now...
FFC: What an honour to meet you. Batman was always my favourite. You know they originally came to me to do Batman.
BK: Well that would have been wonderful...
FFC: What I said to those guys, the one thing is that Batman is a dramatic thriller, it's not a funny show. And then they left and I got the message back, 'Well, they don't agree, they think it is a funny thing and not a dramatic thriller.' But I was happy to see Tim Burton [directing].
BK: He had kind of your vision...
FFC: He brought the dramatic thriller thing, which is what's great about it. A kid sees his family get murdered! What I love about Batman is that he was real - he was flying around through his ability, not through some magical thing.
BK: Did you like Batman Returns?
FFC: The film? I liked it. I think it was wonderful...
BK: Did you like the visuals? The dark, brooding...
FFC: I think Tim Burton's a really good director. A big movie's harder to make than a small movie, because there's so many forces. You got a good director, and thank God because if you didn't have him, it could have gone a lot of ways.
BK: I would have loved to have you on as director...
FFC: I don't know that I would have been as able to do as well. But it's a pleasure to meet you, I'm a real admirer. Congratulations on the enduring effect of your creation.
Bob and Francis signed autographs for each other - but Bob signing his to 'Francis Ford Coppala.'
FFC: C-O-P-P-O-L-A - just change that to an O. It's easier to spell K-A-N-E.
BK: Yeah. I'm glad it isn't Schwartzenegger!
