Did You Know?
This was one of two episodes of Series IV pushed back in the schedules to avoid clashing with news of the then-ongoing Gulf War. In Dimension Jump's case, it was the "war hero" persona of Ace Rimmer that meant that the second-recorded episode went out fifth.
Kalli Greenwood and Simon Gaffney reprise their roles as Mrs Rimmer and Young Rimmer from Polymorph and Timeslides respectively.
For the first time, an episode-specific rearrangement of the closing theme is used: Howard Goodall providing a hefty dose of Hammond organ to play us out (although, where does Rimmer know the tune from?) Howard also produced a note-perfect pastiche of Top Gun's "Take My Breath Away" to soundtrack Ace's arrival - just as he had done with Casablanca and "As Time Goes By" for Camille.
