Crane, Nirvanah
Captain Platini's Comments (taken from holoship Enlightenment):
Commander Crane was considered by Stocky, the Enlightement's on-board computer, to be the most suitable candidate to face the challenge of Red Dwarf's Arnold Rimmer. (Note: The implication here is that her IQ is the lowest on the ship. It certainly explains her later actions.)
Crane was brought up in a society where families had been proven to be bad for one's mental health, and relationships doubly so. A society with sex but no love. (Note: Sounds perfectly reasonable to me...) Rimmer won his challenge when Crane withdrew out of love for him, allowing him to take a full-time position aboard the holoship. Rimmer refused the office. They wouldn't be apart - they just wouldn't be together. (Note: Yes, I know it's a corny line - but so did Rimmer.)
