As a commander aboard the holoship, Binks' primary concern is the establishment of contact with newly discovered life-forms - followed immediately by a reminder that, no matter how smart they think they are, we're smarter.

Binks was making this point to one David Lister when the latter began mocking the former and proceeded to threaten him with a holowhip. Binks beat a hasty retreat. (Note: Binks' registered IQ is a good twenty points below mine. Just thought I'd mention it.)
