Epideme
A man-made virus originally created as a rival to the nicotine patch - it was designed to block the neural signals relating to nicotine craving. While initially successful, it also ended up blocking the signals for blood and oxygen, too. Fatal to those who contract it, Epideme absorbs knowledge from those it infects. If a new host cannot be found, it freezes the body it's in and waits, animating the corpse when new hosts present themselves. And even if you are dying, its wacky charisma will leave you entertained.
Suggested treatment: A series of anti-virions to drive the bug to a major extremity - an arm, say - followed by immediate amputation of the limb with a laser bone-saw.
